BEAR BOXES - PERMIT REQUIREMENT
The City of South Lake Tahoe now requires (as per the new ordinance) that *all VHR's have a Bear Box installed by July 31st 2018.
Bear Box Specifications
Bear Box Loan Program
*Properties that are located in Tahoe Keys and are part of the TKPOA (Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association) are exempt from the Bear Box requirement and owners are in fact not allowed to install such containers as per the CC&R's.
The following companies are Approved Bear Resistant Garbage Can Enclosure Vendors.
Each vendor will be able to provide advice on the size and installation location.
We recommend that you contract your preferred vendor as soon as possible so that the installation of your bear box can be scheduled as weather conditions become suitable, and that bear boxes are installed prior to high season so as not to interfere with Guest Stays.
Vendors can use your property listing on tahoevacationguide.com to check when you property is not booked to plan for best installation time slots, but please have them call us to confirm prior to any onsite installation.
If you have any questions please call Anna Kolari at our Tahoe Keys Office (530)544-5397 or email annak@tahoekeysresort.com

To renew your CITY vacation home rental permit, you should be aware of the new requirements adopted by the City of South Lake Tahoe City Council on November 21, 2017:
A new vacation home rental application is required annually and must be submitted with your payment before the permit expires. There is no grace period. Failure to meet this requirement shall rendered the vacation home rental permit null and void.

- All vacation home rental properties are required to install a bear box by July 31, 2018.
The renewal process now requires you to complete a vacation home rental application and submit it with your payment.
Send completed application to the attention of the VHR Clerk by mail to 1052 Tata Lane, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, or fax to (530) 541-7254, or email to vhr@cityofslt.us. Please reference the property address on the check and issue the check to the City of South Lake Tahoe.

laketahoe.com update!
Since the launch of LakeTahoe.com in May 2014, the website has undergone some major additions and refinements.
In January of this year, we were really thrilled to integrate the reservation system into the LakeTahoe.com website. This means that potential guests now have two websites through which to book your homes as well as two different property booking page designs.
This is showing to be hugely effective in reaching a broader client base.
"LakeTahoe.com is the go to place for planning a trip to Tahoe or to find something quickly when you’re here. With so many people using their mobile devices when they are on the go, we invested the time and energy to make this site easy to access and use on mobile devices. What really separates us from local search engines, and other dedicated VHR companies, is the website's focus on Lake Tahoe activities and our unique ability to tie those activities directly to your properties to maximize their appeal as a place to stay in South Lake Tahoe."
- Lisa Underwood, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Tahoe Keys Resort
