Owner and Owner Guest Reservations

If you are making a reservation for yourself or a guest and wanting to pick up a key at the check-in office, please note our office hours.

Hours of Operation:

High Season  - Summer and Winter, Holidays
Sunday-Wednesday       8 am to 7pm
Thursday                         8 am to 9pm
Friday – Saturday           8 am to 10pm

Off Season
Monday - Wednesday         8am to 7pm
Thursday - Saturday           8am to 8pm
Sunday                                 8am to 6pm

Office hours may vary due to inclement weather and road conditions. 

If you or your guest need keys and will be arriving after hours - please notify our office as soon as you can, ideally at least 24 hours in advance. We have moved to a lock box system and boxes and codes can be assigned as needed.


Boat Docks

Tahoe Keys Homeowners - If your property is rented with a boat dock, it is essential that your guests have access to the dock.
If you are using or renting your boat dock to others and the dock won't be available for guests, please let us know so we can remove it as an amenity on your property listing.
If your dock has access for more than one mooring, and you will be mooring your boat on one side, but still have a space for your guests please also let us know so we can let your guests know to be careful when mooring their boat.


Owner Closets

We understand how important your privacy and ability to store personal items in your own home is. With very few exceptions, guests are respectful of owner closet signage and locks.
As a general rule, we prefer not to store keys to your closets and it is essential that upon your departure that you properly secure it. We recommend that you inventory or photograph your belongings in case you need to make an insurance claim (fire, water damage, theft, act of god etc).
If you would like for us to examine your current set up and install a deadbolt or latch system, please call/email us.
We can also provide you with laminated "Owner Closet - No Access" signs.

Some things that our owners like to store in their closets include:

  • Pillow, throw rug
  • Toiletries, first aid kit, hairdryer
  • Batteries
  • Laundry pods/dryer sheets
  • Dishwasher pods
  • All purpose cleaning spray
  • Favorite coffee mug and wine glass
  • Photo frame and photo album
  • Phone cables/USB charger
  • Tool Kit with screwdriver, hammer, duct tape
  • Stationery, post it notes, pens, tape
  • Flyspray, sunscreen, sun hat
  • Non perishable pantry essentials (well sealed) Rice, Pasta, Soup, Coffee, Tea, Creamer, Sugar, Oil, Salt
  • Dishtowels
  • Slippers
  • Outdoor shoes, rain jacket

... and remember to stick a check list to the back of the storage door so you can make sure you store away your personal items when you leave!


Service Animals

In the event that a person with a service animal requests lodging at one of our properties, we are required by law, in compliance with ADA lodging regulations, to comply. The service animal must be permitted to accompany the individual with a disability and not segregated to a "pet friendly" property. A service animal is not considered a pet.
We can neither charge a deposit nor an extra cleaning fee for these customers, even though deposits are routinely required for pets.
If a guest with a service animal books your property we will arrange where required additional linens, pet bowls/pet beds and assistance to make sure their stay is enjoyable and stress free.
On departure our housekeeping staff will make sure your property is cleaned to our usual high A+ standard, providing additional cleaning services and maintenance if required.

Pets

As much as we all love our four legged friends, we appreciate that for many of you having them in your home is not negotiable and we notate it on your file to not call you re pets.
For those of you that might consider a pet on a case by case basis, we indicate the possibility in your property notes. Allowing a pet can make the difference between getting a booking or not. In a situation where a guest asks if it may be possible, we gather information on the breed, size, age, personality and photos to send to you for your review. If approved, guests pay the listed pet fees and are made aware that a special exception was made for their booking.


BBQ Drip Pans and Cigarette Butt Containers

TKR requires BBQ drip pans on all BBQ's that reside on wooden decks. We also require cigarette butt containers to be placed outside on all decks. Due to the increased fire danger in the Lake Tahoe region, we feel that the above steps are necessary in helping to ensure the safety of your property and neighborhood.
We will not be calling for authorization of this minimal expense. If your property already has these safety features in place, please disregard this message.


Hot Tub/Spa Covers and Cover Lifts

For the convenience of your guests we recommend that where a hot tub cover can't be removed/put back on by one person, a cover lift be installed.
Cover lifts can be purchased on Amazon as well as other online retailers.
The advantage of cover lifts is that the cover doesn't get damaged or dirty when left on the ground. In addition, being able to put the cover back on easily after the hot tub is used, helps to prevent pine needles and other debris from falling into the water.
If we think your hot tub would benefit from a lift cover we will let you know. But please reach out to us if you would like our advice or to install one for you.


Property Rating System

Tahoe Keys Resort has over 25 years of local industry experience and a proven track record in being able to market your property to maximize your occupancy rate. 
When your property is added to our reservation system it is assessed by our property agents and given a rating.
These ratings are Deluxe, Moderate Plus, Moderate and Standard and are primarily based on Interior Decor. 
The following descriptions are provided to prospective guests when making booking inquiries.

DELUXE
Our deluxe rating is reserved for our truly special and unique homes. This honor is awarded based on a variety of features that may include high-end architectural design and superior interior furnishings.

MODERATE PLUS
Our Moderate Plus category homes will offer you a renovated or upgraded home experience with contemporary furniture and furnishings.

MODERATE
The moderate category has homes that are a little dated but have some upgrades. The décor, furniture and furnishings may not necessarily match. Many of these homes will be very representative of the average Lake Tahoe home, offering a very comfortable and easy going stay.

STANDARD
Our standard rating is given to properties that offer a rustic, quaint or retro experience. It's most likely there will be an eclectic mix of furniture, furnishings and household items.

How much does a property rating matter and is it worth investing in upgrades for my home to get a higher rating?
The most important thing is that the rating is inline with industry standards so that we can accurately set your guests expectations.
Equally important is the home description, interior photos and a nightly rate that reflects the overall experience of your home.
